There’s a new girl in retail, ready to serve you. She’s smart, funny, compassionate, stylish and curious. She’s climbed over bridges, and been through peaks and valleys, around the world and back again.

Her roots keep her grounded in San Francisco… until she heads off again on the hunt. She is constantly in motion, searching the world and local neighborhoods on a mission to find the best-of-the-best in functional art – be it for body or home – to share it with all those, like herself, who experience life in living color. Thus, her travels the around the globe to locate the top designers and unsung artisans who have mastered their craft and are embracing local traditions and their cultural heritage to create innovative, exquisite, unique and one-of-a-kind designs. With each find, she is always thinking about others, and believes in "affordable luxury for every budget".

As much as she loves supporting the imagination of small-scale makers and showcasing artisanal treasures, traditions and innovations from around the world, she is passionately committed to social entrepreneurship and ethical fashion. She is on a mission to help online shoppers “look good while doing good” by supporting artisans and brands that make a difference in the lives of others and in the communities where they are based.

Finally, she loves, loves, loves sharing quotes relevant to and appropriate for the moment:

  • Oscar Wilde: “One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art.”
  • Maya Angelou: “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
  • Coco Chanel: “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
  • Iris Apfel: “Live fully. Experience everything you can. It is important to love and be loved, to share, to learn, and then to impart any wisdom you can to others. Be charitable.”

But, above all, she loves PEOPLE -- each and every one -- and wants us all to Be Inspired!

Her advice: Live your life aloud. Let your unique voice and talents be heard – use them to make a difference in the world. And they don’t all have to be world-changing – sometimes the impact of the quiet actions you take is far greater and resonant for much longer than that one grand gesture. And don’t forget: kindness matters. A smile, a nod, a simple acknowledgment can sometimes make a huge difference in one’s life.

And if you don't want to listen to her, how about from an authority everybody trusts?  Not talking about the fabulous Ms. Oprah Winfrey in this case, but a noted author trusted by children and adults like...Dr. Seuss:

Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.  And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go."

Dr. Seuss, from "Oh, the Places You'll Go!"
