Coral and Amber Necklace
Found in an antiques market in Wuhan, China, the strand has the same bead material and spacers (??). The granulated goldtone spacers bracket turquoise rondelles, highlighting the large coral and resin amber beads. The focal center-piece is a composition of an openwork metal bead and final with colorful tassel of turquoise, red and copal amber beads.
Reminiscent of the Royal Mandarin Court necklaces from China during the Qing Dynasty (1900). Necklaces were worn during royal ceremonies with the tassel draped down the back with the two larger beads resting on the shoulder, the remaining beads worn in the front.
